My World Famous Steak and Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

Top round steak or tenderized steak (6 to 8 oz per person)
1/2 onion, chopped
1 cup of sliced mushrooms
2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
salt and pepper

Preparation

Fry onions over low heat (use only a tablespoon or two of oil) until they are transparent.
Add the sliced mushrooms, stirring frequently.
Add the steak and fry until browned on both sides.
Add seasoning to taste.
Empty the two cans of mushroom soup into a bowl, add one can of water, and stir with a whisk until the lumps are all removed. Cover the steak with the soup.
Bring to a boil, and then remove from the heat. Cover the skillet with aluminum foil (or a lid) and put in the oven at 375 degrees for one hour.

Note: The soup will thicken on its own and make a fantastic gravy. If you are making mashed potatoes, here is the secret to the most flavorful m-pots you can make. When the potatoes are cooked, mash them, whip them with a blender, melt butter and add it to them, warm Half-and-Half and mix it in. Salt and pepper to taste. They will be so good they'll make you smack your Grandma.
