A strong allegiance to Rome and a large, hostile Jewish population made this a difficult place to live as a Christian. They are going to suffer persecution

In a hostile environment, they are remaining faithful, quietly living out their Christian faith.

The First and the Last. The one who died and came to life again.

The crown of life for those who are faithful unto death.

Philadelphia

(3:7-13)

Opposition from the Synagogue of Satan.

Although possessed of only “a little strength” they have kept the word of Jesus and not denied his name.

The one who is holy and true. The one who holds the keys of David. The one who opens and shuts at his pleasure.

The faithful will be kept through the hour of trial that is coming to the entire world.
